Who We Are

Directors

Liz Kemp has been fascinated by the Monsoon ever since moving to Arizona in 2005. Starting by capturing her first lightning photos in 2011 with a Canon Rebel camera, she has worked to improve her knowledge of photography, meteorology, and the landscape of the Sonoran Desert. Along the way, she has picked up awards from photo contests run by the American Meteorological Society, as well as the University of Arizona Water Resources Research Center. Her work has also graced the covers of various books, including 'The Minuses' by local author and poet Jami Macarty. She has attended Monsoon Con since 2017, and drew on her experience with events to help lead its operations after the move to Tucson.

Hailing from the UK originally, Liz has followed a multitude of career paths, including as an automotive engineer and computer-aided design analyst for the Rover Group. In 1995, with her then-husband, she started one of the very first web development companies, Idyll Mountain Internet, in Fullerton, CA. Since 2006, she has worked as the Webmaster for the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, and in 2023 she also became a real estate photographer for Luxe Realty Photography. In her spare time, Liz enjoys camping with her Bernese Mountain Dog, Leah, and tending to the needs of her three cats — Tyson, Elvis, and Elvira. She also serves as a Moderator for the Facebook group, the 'Official Tucson Storm Chasers'.

Justin Northcraft

Justin Northcraft is an adventurer, photographer, and content creator deeply immersed in the realms of landscape, aerial, lifestyle, and astrophotography. A dedicated creative professional since 2006, Justin currently calls Utah home, drawing endless inspiration from its diverse and breathtaking landscapes. His pursuit of visually compelling content is driven by a commitment to uniqueness and originality.

In addition to his creative endeavors, Justin is passionate about education and fostering lasting relationships with his workshop clients. He believes in the power of sharing knowledge and experiences, creating a collaborative and enriching environment where everyone can grow and thrive. Join Justin on a journey of exploration and learning, and elevate your photography skills while building meaningful connections within a community of like-minded enthusiasts.
